This was the greatest presentation at The Alamo. It was put on by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. I have to admit that we are so spoiled by being able to go on field trips during the week where it is just us or with one of our homeschool groups keeping the groups very small. There were many school groups there but they organized it so well. They took reservations so they were sure not to be too full for each presentation.
There were four presenters. One that spoke on Native American culture, one that spoke about the Buffalo Soldiers, one the spoke about medical practices during the Civil War and one that spoke about what you would have needed for survival camping, firearms and knives. My dad went with us which was wonderful since he is a huge Civil War and history buff. His knowledge never ceases to amaze me and he said that it was a very good presentation for kids (and adults).Torin kept trading spots between my dad and my lap. He was very good and actually paid attention to much of it but was were giggling when we got to the last presenter and he held up some of the firearms...he perked up, pointed and was on the edge of my lap! Ah yes, another marksman in the family!
Tripp was very interested in the models and battle information as we toured the annex. I'm enjoying it so much as he's getting older and more interested in history. We're looking forward to learning more about Texas history this next year.

Learning about how much corn syrup is really in a soda. They were pretty grossed out.Centripetal Force Roller Coaster Experiment
We went over to Tripp's friend Preston's house for this really neat experiment. It was an online science class. You call in and get instructions over the phone to create a roller coaster using marbles, tape and pipe insulation. The best part is that they live in a multi-story house so we had three sets of stairs.

Our annual nighttime Easter egg hunt at Pawpoo & Granny D's.
This year Avi was actually into killing the poor bunny. Last year she was so upset over the rabbit pinata being beating to shreds. My favorite was how excited Kiley was!!! She was a force to be reckoned with! :-) More Photos
